From PH City to Sound Alchemy
Port Harcourt isn’t an easy place to grow, but for Nxtmiller, it was the perfect pressure cooker. “PH taught me how to survive, how to speak my truth, and how to turn pain into rhythm and power,” he shares.
He began his musical journey in 2018 with raw rap tracks, a personal form of therapy. But by 2021, a shift happened. The bars weren’t enough. He needed more. More depth. More vision. More experience. That’s when he began blending sounds, ditching formulas, and leaning into emotional experimentation.
Inspirations Behind the Madness
Nxtmiller draws from an eclectic mix of creatives: Rick Owens, A$AP Rocky, Ye, and Burna Boy. Each of them has helped shape his identity, both visually and sonically. Rick Owens inspired him to see fashion as a language, where distortion equals innovation.
A$AP Rocky, showed him how to merge street energy with high-art confidence. Ye, the “architect of madness,” as he calls him — gave him permission to embrace chaos and genius in one breath. Burna Boy on the other hand reminds him of the power of home and cultural pride without compromise.
Pretty Psycho: The Sound, The Identity, The Statement
In 2024, Nxtmiller decided to go all in — to stop chasing hits and start chasing experiences. His sound now? Raw, emotional, rooted in African rhythm but unrestricted by genre. It’s music built on chaos, truth, and vision. “I want my music to feel like a world you can step into,” he says. “It’s not just sound. It’s a statement.” This new chapter is headlined by his two-pack release PRETTY PSYCHO, introducing us to two contrasting tracks: “Happiness” explores the emotional aftermath of a broken relationship — a man choosing peace instead of revenge. While, “SUPA MEGA” is bold and playful — an ode to powerful women and a reflection of that same energy within him.
And coming soon is THE PRETTY P$YCHO EP, a multi-layered body of work that dives into the duality of creative genius and inner chaos, complete with visuals and exclusive merch. It’s not just music — it’s an experience.
The Struggles of Going Solo
As an independent artist, the journey hasn’t been easy. One of his biggest challenges? Finding the right creatives in Port Harcourt. “The vision I have is wild, specific, and different and out here, people like that are rare.” Then there’s the funding. Being self-funded means stretching every naira — from production to visuals. But rather than discourage him, it’s made him sharper, more intentional, and incredibly resourceful. “That hunger made the art stronger,” he adds.
Beyond Music: Fashion, Tech & the NXTCollectives Vision
Music is just the entry point for Nxtmiller. His bigger dream? Building a creative ecosystem. “In five years, I see myself leading a new generation of creatives — not just in music, but in world-building.”
Through his vision for NXTCollectives, he hopes to establish a community where artists can unlock their full potential across music, fashion, visuals, and tech. He also dreams of collaborating with artists like Arctic Monkeys, Raye, Jean Dawson, Omah Lay, and Amaarae — names that reflect the range and emotional depth of his own music.
The Engineer Behind the Art
Surprisingly, Nxtmiller has a background in mechanical engineering. And that structured, problem-solving mindset still influences how he creates: always building, always constructing something from the ground up.
He’s also deeply into fashion — using it as a visual extension of his music — and fascinated by tech, especially how it can merge with storytelling to elevate artistic experiences. “My proudest moment is stepping fully into the Pretty Psycho identity,” he says. “Every breath, every song, every idea is proof that I survived what was meant to break me.”
