Meet Eleojo Momoh, a digital marketing strategist who enjoys learning new things.

Eleojo Momoh, otherwise known as Ele, is a writer, singer, and digital marketing strategist. She is the third of four children, with a younger brother and two older sisters. Ele hails from Kogi State but was born in Makurdi, Benue State. She enjoyed many childhood experiences, and some of her best memories now are of the times she and her siblings would plant on the farm and harvest maize, groundnuts, tomatoes, and more. They also raised poultry for a long time, which helped her learn a lot about the business—a rigorous one, to be sure. “You can only imagine the amount of chicken and eggs I have eaten in my life,” she added.

Ele also reminisced about enjoying the rainy season because of the smell of the earth and the calm in the air afterward. Sometimes, she and her siblings would put the lights out after the rains to catch termites to roast. Yum. 😆 Ele, said living in Makurdi feels like a kingly life now because of the memories of all the fresh fruit she and her siblings would pluck from the compound or buy for cheap and gorge on—now just a memory.

Well, “Makurdi is very much a part of me, and I’m becoming more and more proud of that. The slow pace and down-to-earth nature of the place were good for me before I came to the big aquarium that is Lagos.” She added.
In 2019/2020, Ele left Makurdi and moved to Lagos—a big decision because, although she had family in Lagos, she had no money or prospects. It was a leap-off-the-cliff moment for her, and now she is grateful for how far she has come.

Ele, who describes herself as a lover of education and learning, schooled in Benue State, Makurdi, where she attended primary and secondary school as well as university. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in French from Benue State University and possesses certifications, mostly in digital marketing and in 2023, Ele joined the Music Business Academy for Africa 2023 Cohort program, a hands-on educational program that trains creative industry enthusiasts for meaningful, long-lasting, and successful endeavors. She also enjoys languages, continuing to brush up on her French and taking a liking to Korean. 안녕하세요!

When asked about her career journey, Ele said, “This is interesting because I don’t think I’ve had what can be called a straightforward career or even a career at all. But let’s try to connect the dots.” Her first job after leaving university was as an office assistant at a water factory, where she learned about bookkeeping. Next was a job as an admin officer at a church, where she gathered knowledge on operations. She also freelanced as a writer/editor for a while before getting into digital marketing, where she has worked for about four years. Recently, Ele started a gift-curating business with her older sister, where she handles the creative and operational work, and it has been rewarding.

In juggling these career opportunities, Ele has discovered her skills in administration, content strategy and planning, analytics, and more. One accomplishment she is proud of is being honored as part of the top 42 students in the MBA for Africa 2023 cohort. Despite her achievements, Ele doesn’t have a mentor. She says, “I’m actually thinking about having a mentor soon, so I’m looking. Not because they’re so hard to find but because, well, one has to have the right attitude to welcome a mentor into your life. And I’m really trying to work on my attitude amongst other things.”

Ele is proudly Christian, and it is not just a box she ticks on forms. She doesn’t have kids yet, which gives her the opportunity to travel. “Ouuuu, I love travel,” she said. Ele has visited about one-third of the states in Nigeria and has traveled internationally twice, looking forward to more. She said, “Please, I have beach legs. How have you affected others?

“I much prefer for others to say how I’ve affected them, rather than having me do it. But, for the most part, I want to believe that I leave a good mark on most people. Many times, I feel like I haven’t done anything truly impactful, but then someone might tell me something I inspired in them, and it makes me feel humbled and honored. For example, there’s someone I knew as a teenager who says to this day that I inspired him to develop a reading habit. So that makes me feel good to hear.”
