The Recording Academy has officially rolled out the key details for the upcoming 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards, unveiling a wave of new categories, revised rules, and the full ceremony schedule. Set to take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, the prestigious music awards show will once again be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, continuing its legacy of celebrating musical excellence.
Important Dates to Know
Music released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025, will be considered for nomination.
Nomination Announcement: Finalists will be revealed on Friday, November 7, 2025.
First Round Voting: Voting members can cast their first ballots between October 3 and October 15, 2025.
Final Round Voting: This will take place from December 12, 2025, to January 5, 2026.
New Categories Introduced
In a move reflecting evolving musical artistry and industry input, the Recording Academy has introduced two brand-new categories:
Best Album Cover – Recognizing the creative visual design and artistic direction of album packaging.
Best Traditional Country Album – A new space to honor traditional country sound, distinct from its modern, more pop-leaning counterpart.
Additionally, the Best Recording Package has now been expanded by merging the previous categories Best Recording Package and Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package into one streamlined award. This change acknowledges the ongoing innovation in physical music packaging and collectible editions.
Changes to Existing Categories

The former Best Country Album has now been renamed Best Contemporary Country Album, clarifying its focus on modern and progressive sounds within the genre.
In a major step forward for Classical music contributors, composers and lyricists/librettists are now officially eligible for GRAMMY recognition on winning albums, alongside artists, producers, and engineers.
Best New Artist: Revised Eligibility
In a move to be more inclusive and reflective of current industry dynamics, the Best New Artist category will now consider artists who were previously nominated for Album of the Year, even if their contribution was under 20% of the album’s playing time. This opens the door for more emerging talent who have had impactful but smaller roles in major projects.
